Secret of Evermore (Finished)
project finished
https://www.zeldix.net/t1507-secret-of-evermore-msu
https://www.zeldix.net/t1507-secret-of-evermore-msu
- Code:
[quote="Conn"]Oh, and RedScorpion managed to make me Secret of Evermore MSU asm. I think he already prepares the pcm:s, so stay tuned :D[/quote]
Cool stuff One of my favorites, too. Now we just need:
DKC1+3
Lufia II
Seiken Densetsu 3
Illusion of Time (maybe)
... to have my fav all MSUified ^^
Re: Secret of Evermore (Finished)
If you are interested, I attached the code. It's not finished:
- not playtested
- loop table at the end needs to be adjusted
Also, a xml and bml is missing, I tested briefly with terranigma.xml and that worked, but I guess it's not much appropriate. If anybody here wants to take care of the bml/xml, be my guest
Red is currently creating the pcm:s I think/hope
Oh, and don't worry about the strange addressing mode (lorom but hirom addressing switch) it works on a normal headerless US version of Secret of Evermore (at least I think so )
However: important is to use LunarExpand and expand the rom to 3.5 MB prior of applying the asm (I couldn't find free rom space unfortunately).

Re: Secret of Evermore (Finished)
Sorry for the lil thread hijack, but... Any information which MSU index would be which track?
Re: Secret of Evermore (Finished)
Sorry, I don't have. I publish my hacks as a "colaboration work", so people like red do the pcm:s (and with that the track list). I'd welcome if other people join and supply other stuff like xml, bml, help red, playtesting or whatever.
If you want a tracklist you have to play the complete game yourself (cheats on or whatever) and make a breakpoint here:
$F0/0100 8D 4B 0E STA $0E4B [$80:0E4B] A:0001
so either when f0/0100 is executed or ram $0e4b is written to; in this case it is the intro (01).
$F0/0100 8D 4B 0E STA $0E4B [$80:0E4B] A:0016
here it is the menu (16)

Re: Secret of Evermore (Finished)
Thanks kurrono
As said, redscorpion is doing the pcm, and he just assured that he's on it. So no need to make a track list anyways since red is taking care of it. To avoid the confusion we recently had with sf2, if anybody wants to create/help with pcm, please contact red. He's the supervisor for them!
Much more helpful will be playtesting, xml and bml anyways

Secret of evermore
This topic is about volume level fixing, or for posting completed (and properly volume leveled) PCM packs. If you want to discuss hacking new games, please do so in separate threads. Otherwise it gets really hard to follow the conversation, or to find the information you're looking for. I'm splitting off a few of those discussions (ones specifically pertaining to coding, not music) into new threads, please continue the discussion there. Thanks.

Japp it's annoying when topics gets hijacked. This happened to your thread because we do not have a general msu1 discussion thread and people did not know where to post else. I opened such a topic

Re: Secret of Evermore (Finished)
Red seems to need some time to create the pcm:s. He is on them for a couple of weeks already. Feel free to pm him for news (or offer help in case he needs, I know you can do audio as well )

Re: Secret of Evermore (Finished)
His sass level... It's over 9000!. I don't know why "keep calm and eat a banana" cracks me up, but it does.

Re: Secret of Evermore (Finished)
Good things take its while bszelda pcm:s needed 2 years alltogether and Conker needed 4 years of development. Ask Erock how he felt waiting for the releaseHis sass level... It's over 9000!. I don't know why "keep calm and eat a banana" cracks me up, but it does.
If you're completely cracked up and a banana isn't much satisfying, you are free to help red however, I know you're an expert on pcm:s as well (zelda pcm:s that you made). Feel free to contact him if you like

Re: Secret of Evermore (Finished)
It seems some people has time enough and no other responsibilities...
Okay, if you cant wait: Check this Link:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OHOyOVwcJD0&list=PLcvBW2asWkxjaJ1UjIVhGor4Jt4RD08Bk
You could use online YT2mp3 sites and use footbar2000 to convert from mp3 to flac.
Load the first 30 tracks, and start with the json file for all loops for pcms.
I will start with file 31, okay! Use the tracks like the name on YT.
thanks
red

Re: Secret of Evermore (Finished)
No need to convert the mp3's to FLAC, you'll just make the files bigger and it's not like you can regain the quality back. Just saying...

Yeah, I bought the guy's album. Unfortunately, he only has 13 of the tracks on it, and it's missing Tinker's Theme, of all pieces. I'd love it if he finished doing all the tracks, honestly. It is, however, a good start.

The Secrets of Evermore OST in FLAC.
ATM I'm helping Insidious611 with his FFVI MSU mod, but when I finish the current batch if things I'm doing for that (few days probably) I should be able to help you with the PCM audio (encoding/normalizing/looping).
I'd love to see a Secrets of Evermore MSU-1 hack!

Re: Secret of Evermore (Finished)
@RedScorpion Are you still using YouTube to source your music, or did you get a FLAC source? (no, converting from YT into FLAC does NOT count)
If you're still using YT... What you linked to a few posts ago looked to be the OST, I linked to the OST in FLAC 2 posts ago. If you've been documenting your loop points and such as you go, it should only be the work of an hour or so to re-loop everything from the FLAC source.
If you are still going off a YT source, and are using the OST, but don't have the time to re-loop everything yourself, you can get me a copy of your notes and I can do it for you.
As a quick reference, I just grabbed a rip of the audio from FFVI Playstation version, and converted it all into PCM in about 5 hours total work over 2 days, including timing edits (the ending needed quite a bit of work to get timed properly, and was about 2 hours of the work because of the 20 min needed to test each edit) and playtesting, 70+ tracks. And that was just a minor side-project that's probably not even going into Dancing Mad, but might be fun to have if anyone ever adds the PS video cutscenes to the MSU-1 hack.
What can I say, my DSS (Insomnia's meaner, abusive uncle) makes me productive, lol.

Re: Secret of Evermore (Finished)
Hi edale and team,
your post FLAC OST is not the complete OST at all. There are only
29 Tracks in the List. The complete game use 72 tracks -3 tracks for several sound effects.
The problem ist here not the OST or the amount of tracks or loops. The challange was to find out which hex code is use to play which sound in the game.
Iam know finish with 50/72 files with loop end lengh. So we will finish in some days.
Thanks
red

Re: Secret of Evermore (Finished)
@RedScorpion, FYI the MSU-1 can only have 1 active data stream (play 1 audio/video track) at a time.
So if you have both music and sound effects as PCM audio, all sorts of audio glitches happen (best case, only one of the 2 plays).
The typical solution is to make the music PCM while keeping the SFX as SPC audio.
The OST I linked should have all the music files.

Re: Secret of Evermore (Finished)
I'm sure red knows this There are some sfx without bg music like getting item. Also there are themes that sound quite similar, but nevertheless are different.
Dunno whether there are really 40 of them to sum up to 72 but red is testing while preparing the pcm:s - have trust, he's an expert
