DataExport Tool v1.0
After getting screwed over by Hyrule Magic AGAIN I wrote this little
tool to (how Puzzledude likes to call it) "Hexglue" my roms together
similar to the RoomTransfer tool.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-JC2jj-dDNKamhkRU82WXdJWlU/view?usp=sharing
Source code included.
It does exactly what the title says...
export stuff out of your rom into a seperate file on a "per room" basis.
Feel free to use it or steal the "totally perfect and absolutely professional" code. *cough*
If you have some suggestions on more features, bugs, other stuff let me know...

Re: DataExport Tool v1.0
Nice. Good to see people who know how to code, since they are rare. And that's why I wrote all those documents, since I knew how everything worked, but I was doing this manually (before this program, RT, or Zeldix magic could do it automated, since back then no program existed for this).
And yes, this is absolutely necessary to save your rooms done with Hyrule Magic. It is actually recommnded to free at least 20 percent of all rooms (counting room full with data only). I rememebr when making IQ I emptied around 50 rooms (which were otherwise full) and later had practically no buggs and no problems with HM, since the program had a lot of space to work with the dungeon code.

That feels like something aimed for Trovsky.Schicksal88 wrote:Feel free to steal the "totally perfect and absolutely professional" code. *cough*

I love stealing borrowing code! Also could you host the files a site that allows direct downloads and doesn't require an account?

^^Direct link for you
The above link was a google drive shortcut so all I did was to give him a direct link by changing the FILE_ID in there:
Into the address of the file...and then use the Google URL shortener to shorten the direct link: https://goo.gl/

Re: DataExport Tool v1.0
Ah good to know that you need an account to download this, I didn't know about this.
Thanks for posting the link @SePH.
Clearing 20% of the rooms sounds like a good idea.
Every time I wanted to create a clean rom to work with
Hyrule Magic didn't like the rom and did some crazy things with it

Re: DataExport Tool v1.0
is there some way to then take the .bin hex that was exported and then manually import it into another rom? for example i exported room 66 of which i had changes significantly and then tried to copy the hex and paste it into the space that dataexport said was the object location in a different rom with a hex editor and then deleted some extra 0's at the end of the rom to shorten it back down to its original length but then when i tried to open it again with hyrule magic it said that the rom was corrupt.
or if not how would you reccomend that i use this program to import the rooms back into a rom?

Re: DataExport Tool v1.0
If the program is doing the same as the "hex gluing" then the rom will no longer be compatible with Hyrule Magic, after you use it with this program, since HM only reads room data from the original/expected area.

Re: DataExport Tool v1.0
ok makes sense but the rom wouldnt work after that either, just trying to run the rom that i had hex glued in an emulator just went to a black screen and nothing more. so should that theoretically be working?

Re: DataExport Tool v1.0
It should work in an emulator. If it doesn't, something went wrong altogether, since hex gluing of indoor data has no connection with the main code that runs the rom.Jared_Brian_ wrote:ok makes sense but the rom wouldnt work after that either, just trying to run the rom that i had hex glued in an emulator just went to a black screen and nothing more. so should that theoretically be working?
