New aLttP PCM pack in the works
I'm helping out a guy on GBATemp who wanted to try his hand at making his own MSU-1 audio pack, and he just sent me a progress update:

It's nice, but I feel it strays too far from the tune of the original IMO. But that's just me.

Well, that's why we have options. Making an audio pack is a lot more accessible than trying to hack a new game, so if he wants to take the time to try it out, good for him.

Of course he should try. Learning by doing... I prefer to play all ALttP style Zeldas in a particular way. So it's a matter of taste I would say. It's well made and sounds good, but I just prefer Original/Original MSU music...qwertymodo wrote:Well, that's why we have options. Are there 3 different sound packs? If so... No idea... I got DX... Haven't tested yet. I mainly use SNES9x and tried ZSNES and the DOS Game look got me eye cancer... Will try these days ^^ Which one do you prefer? (Link?)

DX is just the hack, not the audio pack. Audio files are all completely swappable:

There are 3 ALTTP MSU audio packs. I prefer the regular one, but the A Link Between Worlds is also great. This new 4th one is also a fine thing to have. So each one to his own I would say.
Someone also made a 5th one, which matches the old 8 bit sound, which again is an interesting concept.

This is sounding good to me. The arrangements capture the essence of the tracks and twists them a bit by emphasizing different instruments. The notation hasn't changed drastically and RebeccaETripp's choice of instruments have been represented throughout Zelda's compositions, past and present.
This should be a good one. Many thanks to qwerty and mgfcortez for getting this pack together. My fingers are crossed for a progress report in the near future.
