Re: Street Fighter 2 MSU1
This is cool, but it's the most trouble I've ever had tracking down a rom for a hack. You might want to base it on non-headered standard roms from GoodSNES or No-Intro instead.
Here are the correct instructions for anyone who is confused:
1. Use current No-Intro roms: Street Fighter II Turbo (USA) (Rev 1).sfc & Super Street Fighter II (USA).sfc
2. Add a header using a program like SNESStuff
3. Then patch with the MSU-1 Hack

Re: Street Fighter 2 MSU1
@PittStone: Thanks for your effort! I listed your pcm:s in the original post in the database (both turbo and TNC) and deleted your reply there.
I'd not call it "better quality" - Red's version is the arcade and closer to the original, while yours maybe sound better to some ears
@smokemonster: I am aware of this problem, some are header some w/o header, then there are US, J, E releases. In my doc readme file are descriptions on which rom the patch has to be applied. I have found smc (with header) versions only, so I decided to create the patch for headered roms. I aplogize if this was the wrong decision but at this stage I will not change the patch anymore. If people run into problems, they can inform themselves about headers and so on or ask here. I cannot help more than that. I had a similar problem with smk, where I needed to visit 10 pages until I found a rom where qwerty's bps could be applied successfully.
We are unfortunately not allowed to post roms or links to roms on this site if we don't want to provoke a C&D and this site has to be closed in worst case.
However, if really all fails, users are of course free to pm or mail other users with rom requests, there's nothing we admins could do about to prevent this

Thanks for the options, PittStone. I noticed that your pack is missing sf2t_msu1-16.pcm -- although I'm not sure if this matters at all.PittStone wrote:Update for Street Fighter 2 Turbo MSU-1

Yes i dont think "sf2t_msu1-16.pcm" is important. If anybody find out what sound it can be, tell me.

This is awesome! This is exactly the sort of work I hoped to inspire, without having everyone hounding me to hack their favourite game(s)

You're welcome, I'm not "great", I'm just an ordinary person who took the time to make what I wanted to get done instead of hounding others to do it for me.
The 6 golden coins colour bug seemed to be related to nintendo adding code that crashes the game if you change the rom size, similar to how capcom adds code in their games if you change the rom size or add sram.
I used to release all of my work for free, this led to a lot of people constantly hounding me to make (insert their personal dream romhack here) for free. It also led to many people who apparently hated my guts to pretend to be a friend just to get free work from me. The same people who I helped for free I later found them putting in serious effort and really going out of their way to attack my reputation and make me look like a horrible person. I don't want to put myself in that sort of position again.
By showing my work I can at least show other people what's possible and inspire someone else to recreate it. Before I posted my work for years the msu1 wasn't put to much use.

Re: Street Fighter 2 MSU1
The problem is you show your work, but it was only : in german we said: "Ein Tropfen auf den heißen Stein" or "like a drop in the bucket".
This was the reason why the most people said you fake your msu games with ost or some other tools. Some people wrote me a pm and ask for help.
I dont understand, why you dont release your asm hack for the msu and let the people work with the game.
I understand your oppinion because the most people want and want a lot of help without any reward. I release up to 10 gametranslations in german and other people make money with it on ebay and so on.
On snesfreaks.com the user dreimer wrote a thread about your terranigma and report some details of your "contract" and what you want for your work...
thanks

Re: Street Fighter 2 MSU1
I can totally understand having people expect free work from you and always wanting more (just look how Conn's "retirement" is going...), but actually releasing your work would have allowed other people to make their own hacks by examining a working example. Just look how everything took off after aLttP. And yes, people do still ask a lot of us to do free work, but saying no is always an option there. We do it because we enjoy it, not to show off our toys on YouTube that nobody else gets to play with.

Anyway... I posted this in the release already but I thought I'd put it here as well.
It's the Arranged/3DO soundtrack I put together for someone who requested it over on Krikzz' SD2SNES forum.

Thanks for providing, just, could you add
ssf2_msu1-17.pcm (capcom logo) for the sake of completeness - otherwise you have mute at the logo...?
You can simply take that from redscorpions set.
