Megaman X MSU-1 crash on SD2Snes

Hey guys,

I got an SD2Snes, and have been loving it, and this Forum has been a huge help getting my feet wet with MSU-1 hacks.

I've been having a slight problem with Megaman X 1. Whenever I beat a Robot Master, and go to the new weapon screen, the game crashes. Its not the biggest problem in the world, I just keep a password generator open on my laptop, and reset. But I'd like to know if any of the rest of you have experienced this, and if you may have any suggestions.


I used the Romhacking.net link, with the linked pcm file list by Retromancer. I also tried the normalized version made here, which sounds great, but I'm still getting the issue.

And I actually figured out the problem. I was using the original rom, and the patch is for the version 1.1 rom. All working now, sorry about that.

Yes, if you patch to a false original rom, thus 1.0 instead of 1.1, or headered rom instead of unheadered (or vice versa), it can result in crashes.

This is why I recomend UPS or BMP or Xdelta patches instead of IPS. Unfortunately IPS is so widely known and used, and a lot of devices can soft patch only IPS, so ...
