Final Fight 2 :: Comments
First off, awesome work on these FF games. I love them and it is awesome to have a new way to enjoy them. I’m new to MSU-1, but I think the volume is too high relative to the sounds effects for this one. I noticed this on the first level but haven’t played the game through yet. I have a Rev H SD2SNES with the latest OS and have MSU boost turned off. Also, the other games (including Final Fight v1.3) sound great. Maybe I’m doing something wrong, but I don’t think I am.
@astro187: Keeping in mind that everyone has their own tastes regarding to volume levels. This aside, there are two ways this can be done. You are doing nothing wrong, it is pretty much up to whoever makes the PCM sets to adjust the volume. I myself did the SegaCD version in this case. Relikk created the arcade version.
#1 The easiest would be to adjust the volume in the source asm code to lower the volume level and recompile the source into the game. Generally, we try to avoid this but if involves one's person own taste, then why not do it? The end result will be to your liking and that is what matters. Everyone else can stick to the original sourced patch.
#2 The PCMs would have to be converted back to WAV (using the msu2wav app). Then using an app, like Audacity and adjusting the volume levels to your preference. This is time consuming but once done, the WAVs would need be converted back to MSU format (using the wav2msu app).
Send me a private PM, I think I can bake a quick dos batch file script that will automate step 1 for you. As for option 2, if enough people feel the PCM samples are too loud, I can readjust the volume level for the sets hosted here.
If you prefer trying option #2 yourself, the links to download the apps are listed below (they are freeware):
Audacity software

MSU-1 tools (msu2wav and wav2msu apps)

If you feel this is way over your head. Do not hesitate to ask for help. I have been in your shoes before but with all the help I got from here, I ended up learning a lot. Good luck.

Actually, any chance that someone can change my name back to Relikk in that article instead of JSheppard?
Thanks very much for all of this information. I may try to adjust the volume one day, but I'm so busy lately I barely have time to play these games, much less tamper with them. I really appreciate all the work that you folks do so the rest of us can enjoy these classic games in a new, fresh way!
I totally get that everyone has their own volume preferences. I was just pointing that one out because I thought you would listen to it and think "oh, that must be an error because the background is so much louder than the other Final Fight games."

Hi guys,
I have tried to adjust the volume but... No problem with msu2wav, but after... Impossible to go back to pcm with wav2msu I have this message after taping wav2msu ff2_msu1-1.wav ff2_msu1-1.pcm
Sample data not where it was expected
What am I doing wrong ?

If the .pcm file will have the same name, it is not necessary to indicate its name.
With wav2msu ff2_msu1-1.wav is enough.
With wav2msu ff2_msu1-1.wav is enough.
OK but... same message : Sample data not where it was expected
Think i've found the problem. Audacity didn't work on my computer and AVS Audio Editor is not compatible....
Just downloaded an old version of Audacity and it's OK now. Will test tomorrow.

it's interesting to share them, like that arrangers / remixers can work on new music arrangements
if you still have them, please share the midi files.
The link of the .pcm pack is off... Could you fix it OP?

The PCM pack link worked fine for me, so I mirrored it here:

Maybe you answered the question yourself. Did you try the US version? To be honest, i applied the patch on the japanese version, because I don't play censored games when i can. Any ideas ?
Same issue here with the US ROM.
So i am not the only one having this issue.
Any ideas or fixes so far?
