Mortal Kombat II (MD+, 32X+ & MSU-MD) :: Comments
It is possible but a mapper will be required to go beyond the standard 32Mbit limit. This MK2 Ultimate pack pretty much used up majority of the available ROM free space. Briefly compared the standard ROM and ultimate, and I can see there will not be enough room for MSU-MD driver and custom code. I have yet to check the MD+ side (but it may fall under the same fate).-pepodmc wrote:But i suppose that will be possible to use the work made in this patch to add it to mortal kombat 2 unlimited.
Update: MD+ still has enough bytes available, hopefully, to map the added songs. The MD+ Ultimate works. The unmapped tracks, just play their FM counterparts as expected.
Here is a MD+ Demo of it in action...
...the audio hiccups is just my capture card sucking really bad...
Here is direct download of the video in case there are any YouTube haters/trolls attempting to block the video...

There are some graphical glitches to the Title Screen (not sure yet, why). Everything else seems fine though.
So the patch works for unlimited too, but we need to map the mk1 songs so they can be replaced with custom tracks too?pepillopev wrote:It is possible but a mapper will be required to go beyond the standard 32Mbit limit. Hi, I made quick test patch for msu-md for mk2 unlimited. Can be downloaded here:
https://mega.nz/file/zbYERLjD#Th3f19PZIETuEl3Fq2uY5HpEQxyfykjJlpuJ031XxCI
This also fixes the wrong colors in the main menu. Still need to map out the additional track id's though.
I wil open a new thread on the development forum for MK2U when I have an update.

@void Thanks for looking into it. I was trying to figure out your weird, but clever word shifting code to determine if a track should loop or not. I did manage to map the MK1 bridge/pit so far. Since you are on it, I will hold back doing the rest. Since, the MD+ patch is based on your code. For consistencies sake. No need for two cooks in the kitchen, in this case.
So there was enough space to fit the MSU-MD driver? Or you trimmed some stuff? Never mind, I see now where things went south. There was space after all. I just forgot to expand the MK2 Unlimited ROM (it was set to 3.9MB instead of full 4MB) to see the rest of the left over space.
My bad.

Yup, all it needs is mapping the new tracks. Right now, they just play FM versions.-pepodmc wrote: So the patch works for unlimited too, but we need to map the mk1 songs so they can be replaced with custom tracks too?
@pepillopev Yes correct I padded the ROM to the 4mb boundary. Luckily that worked, was a bit worried when you said there wasn't enough space
I created a new patch. You can find it in the new thread on the dev forum.

yeah, I am glad everything worked out cuz at first it looked like we were cramped for space. Thank heavens, this was not the case.void wrote:Yes correct I padded the ROM to the 4mb boundary. Luckily that worked, was a bit worried when you said there wasn't enough space
Did you update the source so that I can port over to MD+?I created a new patch. You can find it in the new thread on the dev forum.
Thanks again for bringing your patch up to par with this hacked ROM.
I pushed the source just yet. I think it is not complete though. I checked the changelog for Unlimited and it states all 6 original Mortal Kombat maps should be in there. But for some reason I never get the Courtyard map.
Anyway maybe we should continue discussing the new patch on the dev forum

@Macck, It sounds like your rom might be a bad dump. I would suggest you to make a fresh backup dump of your game, cross check with re-dump dat file, and make sure after you add any game patches to said rom re do the checksum so it boots normally like before. The checksums on Sega games are a pain. Lol I hope this helps you out.

It might have something to do with the reset type in your MegaSD settings. Change it to hard reset if it's set to soft.
32X+ patch and audio pack added for Master Linkuei's recent 32X Arcade Edition hack.
Need a MSU-MD version for 32X Arcade Edition hack. Im using real hardware.
Been trying to patch the 32x version and it just doesnt work. The mk1 version works and I get arcade sound.
Tried patching the Mortal Kombat II 32x Arcade Edition and the original 32x versions.
Mega drive version works fine with the mega cd 2. Download link from youtube. I get CD audio. 32x version black screen on boot.

NB: For the 32X version you need a real Sega/Mega CD.
Would it be possible to merge the MD+ patch with Billytime Games' AI Nerf Hack? I've tried to do it myself but I'm getting a blank screen when I try to combine them.
Could someone create the MD+ patch for the Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 game for the mega drive? It's high time for someone to create this patch.

Tested patching the 32x version with real mega cd and the game boots the mega cd as normal but the game fails to boot. I cant get the mk 2 patches to work.
