Alright everyone,

Let’s hear some ideas of how Zelda (1) for the NES could be hacked in order to recreate Miyamotos original concept.

In an interview he said it was originally meant to be played in the past and present. And that the triforce was intended to be pieces of a computer microchip.

I imagine the “future” part being a Retrofutirism at the time of the 80’s. Not modern futuristic.

How would this be implemented?

Let’s hear your thoughts and ideas.

Also- if anyone is able to dig up some more early concept ideas from Miyamoto or Nintendo interviews, please post those as well!

What do we have to work with? :

-Link originally started with sword during early playtests
-Game was originally named "Adventure" in early notes
-Game was originally planned to have a future world also
-Triforce was planned to be pieces of a computer microchip
-Game featured Dungeons (3D style)
-Game featured a similar but slightly different world map
-Gold and silver were mentioned as items (in place of rupees?)
-Early Names; Gannon: Bull Demon King
-Early Names; Octorok: Octopus
-Early Names; Gohma: Eyeball

Now how would this be realistically implemented in a Zelda 1 hack?

-Link starts with sword- no cave with old man
-Title screen edit “Adventure”
-Future World, second quest features different (futuristic) pallete?
-Triforce edited to resemble computer microchip
-Title screen edited to show early Dungeon entrance art
-World map altered to fit early design map renderings
-Rupees replaced with Gold and Silver pieces
-Gannon: Bull Demon King
-Octorok: Octopus
-Gohma: Eyeball

Music could be slightly edited for a less polished (beta) feel while blending the traditional sound with a more futuristic tone
