MSU Video not playing.
I'm using this patch: http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/2594/
And this patch(es) and MSU(s): https://www.zeldix.net/t453-enable-msu-streaming-music-for-alttp
The musics work fine, but the videos don't play. I don't know how to code, so someone please fix it.

Re: MSU Video not playing.
That's not the way the to make your first post. You see, it works for us, so what's there to fix and what does that tell you.
You should know, that MSU-1 is generally meant for Audio only and the "video" is not really a video as such, but a short display of the selected pictures in the preboot and ending.
I suggest you put the code for MSU-1 into the rom first and then the code for pre boot intro (video with a screenshot):
https://www.zeldix.net/t88-pre-boot-introscreen
https://www.zeldix.net/t618-insert-msu-1-logo-video-into-games-during-bootup?highlight=video
And then the code for ending adjustment (video with more screenshots after beating the game):
https://www.zeldix.net/f34-ending-adjusting
We all checked these 3 codes and they tend to work, while the Conker hack has/will have all of them implemented.
A further question is what system will allow this. Only BSNES emulator was tested to support all (since it is the only emu to support external files). As far as I know all emus should support the preboot. Special adoptation (further code) had to be made to support MSU-1 on SD2SNES. I pretty much doubt you will able to run videos on the latter system.

Re: MSU Video not playing.
I'm pretty sure he was referring to the intro video that Conn coded after you enter the game which is both possible on real hardware with sd2snes and on the bsnes emu.

Yup, I'm using Higan though, if that makes a difference. The video/audio files that Conn coded are for A Link to the Past DX, but I'm using A Link to the Past Redux, but the video don't play on Redux, so I was hoping for a fix for that.હેદρમ™ wrote:I'm pretty sure he was referring to the intro video that Conn coded after you enter the game which is both possible on real hardware with sd2snes and on the bsnes emu.

Re: MSU Video not playing.
You know, I cannot cover all spin-offs of my hacks. Try with my hack on a native expanded rom!
DX doesn't support video as far I know, so I guess neither this spin-off. You need to check it...
The original msu hack is here:
https://www.zeldix.net/t593-msu-1-streaming-music
inside the zip folder you find two folders.
Apply the alttp_msu1.ips patch from msu_alttp folder on an unheadered EXPANDED alttp rom (lunarexpand).
Then apply the optional_video.ips from the same named subfolder.
(follow the tutorials found inside the folder if you are stuck).
When you download all the pcm files and the msu video file, RetroDan offered:
A Link to the Past MSU Audio Complete:
http://dl.dropbox.com/s/rqmcchi7j61pxof/A%20Link%20to%20the%20Past%20MSU%20Audio%20Complete.rar?dl=0
MSU Opening Intro and Audio:
http://dl.dropbox.com/s/9tfg549to1cpbrn/MSU%20Zelda%20Opening%20Intro%20and%20Audio.rar?dl=0.
The video should work.
If it works you do everything alright. Then you must contact the author of your hack, whether he can also enable video in his hack- I am not responsible for his work.

Re: MSU Video not playing.
That explains it. Redux was never meant to support video. Its goal is this:But I'm using A Link to the Past Redux, but the video don't play on Redux.
Change Link's hair to blonde. Change Agahnim colours to match the original red robe and blue skin artwork. Change the Flute's name to Ocarina. This includes in-game text too. Change the Good Bee's name to Golden Bee etc.
In addition the MSU code was implemented, but the code was moved around. To be able to also include "video" with this hack, which was made "by a third person" is really not a fix, but would be an additional code added to it.
I think no one here is interested in further "hacking" a custom derivated work, which is basically a hack of a hack already. But of course for the Redux to support video can be done. It is a question however if this can be achieved with IPS patching only, it might need the insertion of the ASM separately.
