If it is more convenient for you, I updated the restoration msu version with this fix:

Not finished, when pointing SCD how to fix the flickering bug, he gave me another bug to fix:



"Hiya there, just wanted to report an issue I've encountered with your restoration patch for Super GnG. Beating Samael while wearing golden armor causes the game to crash at the moment when Princess Prin Prin embraces Sir Arthur. Defeating Samael while naked or in steel armor has no issues."

The fix:

change 6b 00 00 00 00
into a9 00 48 ab 6b

There was a small bugfix in the restoration version needed, as the old fix by me bugged at everdrive (and maybe sd2snes):

change at 10/7083: 66 -> 54 and it should work
is wrong (causes strong flickering on rh.
change at 10/7083: 66 -> 5d instead
(or redownload the patch, it's fixed also in the subfolder restoration)

I can't remember wich one is the soundtrack i fixed, but is the one of the video, that has some minor failures in the reproduction, and now is solved.

If you want to add it in the first post, or uploading into your account to ensure it doesn't get lost, is all yours.

There is a restoration patch at romhacking that prevents slowdowns

If you look into the msu patch files

... you find a subfolder called restoration... well. What could this be?
Maybe the msu patch merged with the restoration that prevents also slowdowns as told in the romhacking description? Hmmm... Wink

No, I mean that bug occurs also when you only apply the romhacking patch and not the merged msu restoration patch.

Of course, i didn't say nothing in that way.

Is only that, in a forum, is good to state constancy of any issue for the "posterity", to knowing how to solve any problem xD

I have the two patches here, the romhacking one "no slowdown", and the msu1 one that works with the "no slowdown" patched.


-When i patch ONLY with the romhacking one, the rom boots with this bug.
-When i patch ONLY with the msu one, the rom doesn't boot.
-When i patch with the romhacking one, and then with the msu1 one, the rom runs with no slowdown and msu1 music, but with this little issue.
-When i patch with the msu1 first, and then with the romhacking one, the rom doesn't boot.

I will keep investigating.

It does boot for me.
Check if you patched a fresh rom without header.

Since this is getting confusing:
I provide 2 patches, both needs to be applied on US version without header (Super Ghouls 'N Ghosts (U) [!].sfc)

- sgg_msu.ips (msu only, no capcom bug): MSU only, boots - must not be used with any other patch (neither the restoration at romhacking nor the merged msu/restoration patch).
- sgg_restoration_msu.ips (msu+restoration merged, capcom bug): boots as well. if you use it, you must not apply any other patch (neither msu only nor any restoration)

All right, it has sense now. I understand why the "restoration+no slowdown" patch doesn't works.

But the "sgg_msu.ips" + "no slowdown" definitely could be possible, right?.

What is the difference between the "restoration" patch, and the simple "msu" one? (i'm checking the thread for the info, but is a little bit large).

April's fools day is tomorrow, I hope you realize this... sorry if this sounds rude, it's not my day today.

Ok.
There is a restoration patch:

This one features all the stuff mentioned on romhacking (no slowdowns and such), but isn't compatible with the msu only patch (sgg_msu.ips)

Many people however, like the stuff from the restoration patch (religeous crosses, no slowdowns). Since the restoration from romhacking and msu patch (sgg_msu.ips) are incompatible, I made them compatible, means I made a working merged patch (sgg_restoration_msu.ips).

I hope it got clear now, if not I failed and another here must clarify it for you Sad

Shouldn't be the case, maybe the msu is so similar to spc that you just have the impression... if in msu mode, the spc is muted.
Maybe somebody can confirm?
