U.N. Squadron (Area 88) :: Comments
I doubt it is related to my remapped msu patch since there is only one hook (it would have crashed way before in case it is related to this).
You might want to try both patches independently to see whether it is the msu or the fastrom patch causing the crash.

I updated my UN squadron PCM set to include a new track by MakeItRock that is a cover of the Briefing Room Theme. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ffqsg67Z5iU
If you want to download the new single track, try this:

If you havent downloaded the PCM set, try the first post or this: https://mega.nz/file/A7ZxmSiT#LLSN6kbGLH9bTmLcPdQUVInCLYUrZnlcvAdzSYNlYwU

I've converted the patch to be compatible with the Japanese version of the rom.

Your link provides only the japa version right?
I'll add it to the main package at op once home.

I updated my UN Squadron. My first set was mostly by the artist Breath of the Sea with some filler of tracks he has not finished yet. Now a few years later the artist has finished the entire album and it is very good in my opinion. The update now has the entire PCM set done by a single artist.

Unfortunately, the MSU-1 and Fastrom use the same banks. Any chance someone could fix this prob?
This was discovered by, blizzz while patching the Area 88 EN+ patch for U.N. Squadron.
The explanation on the readme file states:
-- Base game:
U.N. Squadron (USA).sfc - NoIntro (unheadered)
-- FastROM hack by Vitor Vilela
Download: https://github.com/VitorVilela7/fastrom/releases/tag/v1.40
First apply un-squadron.bps from Vitor Vilela's FastROM project to the
USA version of U.N. Squadron. The CRC32 checksum should be 231F0F67
after patching.
Next apply area88_enplus_103_for_fastrom.bps to the patched rom.
-- MSU-1 Hack by PepilloPeV
First apply uns-msu1[NtscEng].bps to the USA version of
U.N. Squadron. The CRC32 checksum should be FE390648 after patching.
Next apply area88_enplus_103_for_msu1.bps to the patched rom.
(Note: The MSU-1 and FastROM hacks are not compatible with each other,
because they add custom code to the same rom location starting at
$00:FCE9)
In the US, Area 88 was released in comic book format as early as "1980 something" (1986?). It was NEVER released as U.N. Squadron in any way. I'm not sure why Capcom called it U.N. Squadron outside of Japan. My conundrum is that I can't play the game with both Area 88 EN+ and MSU-1 patched into the ROM. While I CAN get the Area 88 EN+ and fastrom patches working together on a single ROM.
I currently use a flashcart (SD2SNES PRO) to play ROM-hacks.
Ideally, I'd like to be able to play the game with all three patches enabled.
???
(I'm a big crybaby! Somebody, fix this for me!)

fairly easy to fix yourself.
find some free space in the fastrom patched version, update this line here: to be that address.
once you've changed it, save the file and use xkas or asar to apply it to the rom.

Thanks Cubear.
Humm so the idea is to jump in the fastrom 'main.asm' to the adress show in the MSU1 'uns-msu1.asm' where there is free space for patches?
in fastrom 'main.asm' change this? (this is a question)
; Code for enabling/jumping to FastROM area
org $00FCE9
==>
org $8dfd40
With these order?
unsquadron+fastrom+area88plus_fastrom+msu+area88plus_msu

i don't understand the question, sorry. you only need to edit one of the .asm files. to look for freespace you can look at the rom with a hex editor, run it through slogger, or use the memory viewer function of an emulator that has a debugger (mesen, bsnes plus)
Ok thanks for the explanation, so finding free space in the rom and then alter the MSU ASM, it's clear now.
It looks like JUD6MENT's pack for breath of the sea's covers has not been updated yet with the "Thanks for playing" theme (uns-msu1-17.pcm) as posted here:
I went ahead and created a pcm for it to add to the pack to finish it up. It's volume balanced to the existing SPC rendition in the pack, and set to not loop as the song in the original game does not do so. Checking the MSU-1 patch source code, this seems to track:
I don't want/need any credit for this, I just wanted to be of assistance.

Thank dude! Yeah, I was unsure if he was going to do that one or not so I stopped waiting and did the album, then he did shortly after. lol, I was going to update that at some point but kind of forgot. Thank you
Here is JUD6MENT's pack and a mirror upload with the new pcm added in. If someone could just edit that into the main post everything should be good. No credit required/desired on my part.
