Good evening all,
thanks to Conn for his support to build the final msu patch for star ocean.
The version used the First Departures OST for SNES Star Ocean. In some days i will also release the SNES OST pcm set.
The patch is compatible with the english dejap rom, spanish rom from magno and japanese rom for sfc. Later in this year also available for the german version.
The patch is not tested 100%. It could happen that further issues occurs

Hej Red, nice to notice there weren't issues so far with my patch , just 2 things:
- can you give the decryption key to your pcm set? When I click on the mega-link it demands it...
- can you put the source asm code inside the patch attachement? I guess you tinkered a bit (e.g., the non-loop tracks set to 01), so I have an updated code if bugs will be found.

I'm having issues getting this patch to work it gets past the intro then goes black and freezes never had an issue patching a game before.Im using Star Ocean (Japan) [En by DeJap v1.0].sfc and renamed it to so_msu1.sfc after patching with eng.ips. Also tried patching it with jap.ips and same issue

Yeah you're right, it stops right after he says "What the hell ?".
Tested in bsnes v115.

That did the trick.
Intro plays and goes in-game now, played for 15 minutes until I could save game, no issues so far.

It is a rpg and nobody has tested it, so no, it's beta until a user confirms it as good after a complete test

I noticed another bug in the game. Every now and then when you go into battle and the fight is over the music disappears then comes back after another battle.

it is v5 already. I encountered a lot of bugs, in v5 I added e.g., a resume after fight so that the world map does not replay from new.

it is v6, but only affects the spanish/german patch, english hasn't been updated. I made a stupid mistake by copy/paste the code from the english to the german. So no need to update if you already downloaded v5 and test the english version

Conn I have a question I'm still fairly new msu1 patching and rom hacking in general what happens it I apply the patch to a headered rom will it still functional correctly?

No, because you give the hook addresses absolute, a header is at the beginning of a rom with $200 bytes. So if you patch a headered rom with a patch created for non-headered, the hook addresses are shifted and the patching fails:

Its the first departure psp ost. There is a remastered track oft 4 Songs available in yt. Did you used it?

v7 is up. When going into menu, play instrument, music didn't resume (fixed).

Cool, is it possible to make a complete set out of this (I see you only made 2 pcm)?
I am also a bit confused. There was a switch/PS4 remake in 2019 "Star Ocean: First Departure R", but it was impossible to find that OST. Anybody has an idea where to get that from?

I remember getting half way through a PCM set for this over a year ago. It's still sitting on an HD somewhere, but I can't remember exactly which soundtrack I used.
