Top Gear 2 (Mode 1)
PATCH:
MODE 1 PATCH (by "Ti" - Compatible with both the MegaSD and the Mega Everdrive Pro)
AUDIO PACKS:
ARRANGE SOUNDTRACK (Mega EverDrivePro and MegaSD) (BY "PEPODMC")
TOP GEAR THEMES FROM HORIZON CHASE TURBO (ISO+CUE) (BY "RETROPLAY")
FOR EMULATORS:
ARRANGE SOUNDTRACK (For Genesis Plus GX) (by "Pepodmc")]
This music pack has tracks in "OGG" format made for use in the "Genesis Plus GX" retroarch core. That core, sometimes, has some problems if the tracks are in "WAV" format. But with tracks in "OGG" format it works OK, plus less size of the music packs.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
INSTRUCTIONS TO USE IN GENESIS PLUS GX (RETROARCH):
EMULATOR:
GENESIS PLUS GX RETROARCH CORE
For the moment, use the "Genesis plus GX" i put in the thread, because the Core available in Retroarch to download its behind the last source changes, that enable to use all the msu-md patches. Rock & Roll racing is not one of the MSU-MD patched games, it uses an older type of Mode 1 hack, but its better to use this "Genesis Plus GX" from now on.
Put the core in this thread inside "cores" folder.
Then download the Sega CD bios (US,EU,JP) and put them in "System" folder.
The name of each files is:
"bios_CD_E"
"bios_CD_U"
"bios_CD_J"
And then, check in Retroarch if the files are the ones you need.
Open the emulator, in "load core" , select "Genesis Plus GX" , go back, enter in "information", then enter in "core information" and check this:
If one of those three says "missing", its because the name of your bios files its wrong or its not the file you need, and will had to download from somewhere else. Without these files, the new tracks will not load. (depending of the region of the game)
And last, your ROM must have the same name as the Cue file of the music pack. Change the file extension of your ROM from ".bin" to ".md". Always open the game from the bin file of the game, not from the cue.

Re: Top Gear 2 (Mode 1)
@-pepodmc Hi, again the same criteria applies to this patch. It is not fully MegaSD and MSU-MD compatible in its current state (OGG files being used). You will need to convert these to the proper WAV format (or just provide both OGG and WAV variants). Please post this in the Discussion area.

Updated with a everdrive compatible music pack
I still have to create a MD+ compatible patch for both RnRR and TP2. MSU-MD is fine with the current patch you provided for both. I will move these games back once my testing is done.-pepodmc wrote:Updated with a everdrive compatible music pack

@-pepodmc Ok, this one is done too. I noticed this patch only has some music in CD quality (just the racing portions of the game). The rest is still in FM. Just stating this observation to avoid any one claiming the patch does not work.

I need to find more good covers or remixes, in any case, will update the pack.

There is a guy who made the best versions of the songs, it's just amazing.
Look for his name, which is Roman Krasnogolovets.

I could find only these two covers from him, i need to see if he made covers for the other two stages to make another music pack.

Look this ...
Dude these synthwave are very impressive.
For the first music Title we replaced (it is very good but not as striking as the others) with classic and bad ass music from Top Gear 1.

Im finishing a music pack for Sonic 1 (i found a patch to add custom music to that game).
And after I finish it, i will make a music pack with the tracks you posted here
I'll try to help, I'm getting a good combination using the 2 songs from Roman Krasnogolovets, and Title and Ayers Rock from another source, soon I will link.
I made a fixed bps patch of Ti's hack with SEGA MEGASD header for combined MD+ & MSU-MD compatibility.
Apply to a clean USA rom with Floating IPS (Flips) or similar tool.

Seems that relikk updated the link with an ips patch, a bps patch and the tool to apply them.
That was Pev. It's still one patch too heavy (the MSU-MD patch isn't needed), but it's fine for now.
A doubt !
When you are playing, when the car crashes, do graphic artifacts appear on the screen?
This only happens to me with Patch applied to MD +!
Does it happen to you too?

Yes, there's glitchy graphics when car crashes with the Mode 1 CD hack.
I don't have real hardware to test on only Genesis Plus GX and Fusion, could be an emulator bug, idk.

Okay, I've removed the extra patches from the download. There is now only one patch, compatible with both flash cartridges. Again, these patches are not "MD+" patches, they're "Mode 1".
The original patches for these games did not originate from anyone on this forum, we are just listing them in our database for convenience, so any glitches or bugs are nothing to do with us. You will need to contact the original author of the patch if you're sure there are bugs.
I understand Chev Chelios isn't exactly reporting a bug and is just looking for confirmation on a possible glitch, but we're just letting people know where we stand on bug reports with patches that weren't created by anyone here.

Thanks to friend Relikk, you are always very attentive.
My intention with this doubt, is that I contacted a famous friend and maybe we can finish the Top Gear colorhack, but for that I had to know if it was a common problem.
Retroplay, I tested it on hardware but with md +, maybe with Sega CD I don't have this problem, it's not too bad to get in the way.

This is old, this hack is not compatible with Kega Fusion, every time you load the track in Sega CD mode there are bugs in the image.
Is there any way to increase the volume of the music packs? The game's sound effects are drowning out the music.

I took pepodmc's Arrange pack and amplified all of the tracks. Also fixed track 3's channels (one was lower than the other). The volume should be similar to the Horizon pack.
