Link's Awakening DX [Super Game Boy]
Two years in the making, I have finally completed fixing all known issues, and am happy to publicly release v1.1 of Link's Awakening DX MSU-1!
This ROM hack adds MSU-1 audio support to Link's Awakening DX. MSU-1 support for Game Boy games requires the use of the Super Game Boy, so a fully compatible Super Game Boy emulator or flash cart must be used. This hack also adds in several new tracks and alternate versions of tracks from the Nintendo Switch port of the game.

NOTE: The color dungeon is not compatible with the Super GameBoy, so it has been disabled, as well as removing the book in the library that tells you how to access it. This is not a bug. I have an idea to possibly add the color dungeon back in a future release, but it will only work on an actual GBC or GBC emulator, the color dungeon is fundamentally incompatible with the SGB, so it won't be possible to play the color dungeon with MSU-1 support.

the german patches g1.0 and g1.1 cannot be applied to the corresponding revisions of the ROM. However, the USA u1.2. patch works with revision 2 of the ROM (just for testing)
Greets and thank you for the work!
I just checked, and both patches work fine. Please confirm you are using the correct ROM.

That's u1.0, which would explain why the German patches didn't work with it.

Great work qwertymodo! 1.1a is working great so far on my fxpak, thank you so much
Disclaimer: This is none of my work, all credit goes to Qwertymodo Lukas, CUE and everyone else involved, I just put all the work together, but I can't fix any bug, sorry.
Great work Qwertymodo, thanks a lot.
I want to help here for the fellow spanish players that might want to enjoy the great soundtrack patch while playing the spanish translated version, so I went throught the pains of applying the MSU asm file of patch 1.1a over the already patched to spanish rom, and I add here for you all to enjoy.
A) Use Gameboy color "Legend of Zelda, The - Link's Awakening DX (USA, Europe) (Rev B) (SGB Enhanced).gbc" as base rom (headerless version).
ROM CRC32 06887A34
ROM SHA-1 1C091225688D966928CC74336DBEF2E07D12A47C:
B) Obtain and apply my patch file, it's attached below in this message.
Kindly note that after patching, rom must have the same name than the PCM files
(Link's Awakening DX MSU1.gbc) to make it work.
C) Obtain and unzip "Super Game Boy 2 (Japan) .sfc" (headerless, unpatched), rename it to "Link's Awakening DX MSU1.sfc" and put in the same directory as the game.
D) Download the PCM files of the 1st post and unzip them on the rom folder.
The files structure will end up like this:
That's all folks, enjoy
You can play this from standalone BSNES or Retroarch BSNES core.
With standalone Bsnes, you will have to load first the SuperGameBoy 2 rom and then load the GBC game rom.
You can learn more about LUKAS & CUE translation here:
https://www.romhacking.net/translations/2244/
NOTE: I first tried the latest translation from Toruzz ( https://www.romhacking.net/translations/2435/ ), but as it uses VWF and rearranges things inside the rom, it's not compatible or beyond my knowledge and capacities.

Do you know if it is compatible with any rom hack or patch from romhacking.net?
Jorge2222 wrote:Do you know if it is compatible with any rom hack or patch from romhacking.net?
Maybe some minor ones that do little changes. The more changes, the more likely it won't be compatible. You would just have to test it out.
Hey, so, I've been trying to wrap my head around mashing together all the source code stuff for days, and I just can't get it to click... so I figured I'd just ask:
Is there any possibility someone has merged the "Super Awakening" hack with the MSU1 hack? Could really make it the ultimate Super GB experience!
For those unfamiliar, it's quite a revolution in Super GB hacking:

Your project looks very promising
I was working just a bit with qwerty on this patch but I am far away from understanding it.
So best option you have is to contact qwertymodo via discord:

Oh, I can't take any credit for this at all - I wish I were quite so capable at hacking on this level! I can barely even understand ASM at all. xD
Thanks for the suggestion, I'll try reaching out. =)
