zarby89 wrote:overworld is actually super easy to but i mean it hard to do better than HM, i have a viewer already i could probably turn it into an editor in couple hours of work but it would be bad also overworld map are compressed and that's an easy way to corrupt rom if you don't know what you are doing haha
strangely i had less corruption issues with over world editing than dungeon editing with HM. i suspect my latest copy became corrupted when I was editing the over world too much. also the tile sets are a lot more time consuming to change and it took me a while to add a bridge on death mountain. i would still add the over world editor that way you can at least have a foundation set up, which can be updated once the program is released.

Re: updates seem pretty slow now
Now all what Hyrule Castle needs is either a DJ or a disco ball.

Re: updates seem pretty slow now
if the over world editor is very difficult then why not have two programs for better stability? one editor I would like to see is a multi-editor that combines hyrule add ons and an editor to change the damage class and properties of items.
anyway, it is nice to see this is in progress. hopefully it will get released soon.

Re: updates seem pretty slow now
I would not lose hope just yet. Trovsky might be slowly working on the new editor, but the fact that other programs are in progress could hopefully bring more interest into the community. smwcentral and FF6hacking have a pretty big following and I presume what has held this community back was Hyrule Magic. If anything, Sephiroth3 is the biggest troll.

Re: updates seem pretty slow now
i'm done doing optimization ! so i can start working back on new feature for it !, it took me a while to optimize it enough so it can draw in realtime without "lag" or draining cpu
my app take 15% cpu on my computer and HM 8% when moving stuff around so this is good enough here's a screen of what HM should have had !

Re: updates seem pretty slow now
this is a really nice update where you can transfer the tiles to the other side. what about floor levels 2-3? how much more is there left until the program can be launched for testing?

Re: updates seem pretty slow now
, layers 2,3 are not done yet but yeah it will be possible to select all of them together like the .gif, i can't and i won't give an exact release date lol i'll stay with the 1st thing i said that it will be probably before the end of the year i hope.
this is far from being usable right now i'd say probably at least 1-2 weeks to have something usable and 1 more week to turn it into something a bit more decent.

Re: updates seem pretty slow now
well it is nice to see some progress being made. MathOnNapkins tried working on black magic, which only had an alpha version of the over world edit released. one thing that i would like to see is an easier way to adjust the stair way coordinates or if there is a data limit in each room. once this editor gets released, then HM will be a thing of the past.

Still working on it a little bit slowly since it the holidays but it progressing !
that screen is not final of course i love the saving/loading layout idea it will have his own loading form where you can have preview of your saved layouts instead of that textbox

Re: updates seem pretty slow now
So you rename the rooms? If so then that will make it much easier to find dungeon locations.

Re: updates seem pretty slow now
no it create layout file from objects you have selected so you can load them in another rooms/project/share them...
example in misery mire again you love that square at the top then you can save it in your layout

Re: updates seem pretty slow now
That is crazy that you can even transport tiles from other floors like that. I look forward to seeing this editor as the successor to HM.
