Re: [Super Game Boy] Pokemon Gold & Silver MSU1
Somebody should inform (pm) zumi, that here's progress. With luck he finishes this patch then

I got in contact with him through both of our YouTube channel and he is fully aware and says he will try to find time soon. You can even see a small conversation in the chat of that preview video

Hey all, sorry for the radio silence.
Computer problems + college starting + some other stuff kinda stopped me from posting here
But I'm now getting back on track and I seem to have successfully patched JP 1.0! I'm pretty happy to see this patching system actually working, it took a slightly-hacked-together script that finds all the possible locations for some routine in any ROM version.
I've got not much else to say except updated repo, and this:

Current bug reports:
- Track updating too slow to keep up with player movement
- Jingles are currently played SGB-side. Possible ideas:
- Create MSU-1 tracks for each jingle. Might add significant space to the PCM pack, but I'm not sure how much since I haven't looked at the jingles yet (they're all sound effects which means I have to go through each one-by-one and determine which ones are jingles)
- Leave it be and just duck the MSU-1 audio, as in the gen 1 patches.
- Either way I might need to patch PlaySFX to determine if any jingle is played - I'm a bit scared of possibly slowing down the game a bit due to the extra checks

Re: [Super Game Boy] Pokemon Gold & Silver MSU1
Hey Zumi, good to see you back.
For the first option, i don't think it would add much space. A track that is 5 seconds is less than 1 mb in memory, so having 80 of those would be about 60mb since some would be pretty short. That is not too much being added on.
I think either choice sounds great. I got spring break coming up this upcoming week so i will finish my PCM tracks and i can do any play testing on any patch you develop.

This is just the development page, when we release the finished product it will be featured for sure. Depending on how Zumi decides to fix the sound effect jingle problem, we may or may not be adding a bunch of new short 5 second PCM tracks. We will wait and see. And thank you for making this PCM set, it will be great to have two different sets ready on release.

Re: [Super Game Boy] Pokemon Gold & Silver MSU1
Got a new beta test preview video up! We got one new glitch found with this one, details in the description or comment section of video.
Here is a save data that is in Azalea town where this glitch is taking place:
https://mega.nz/file/tq4TnQZY#qa2xPOGMFjh6lah55hra1irLOhlKPpKVVUzGDVsnrh4
You may also want the Azalea track to help. Adding this track to my previous partial download PCM tracks will do the trick (or you can use brutapode89 HGSS set):

Re: [Super Game Boy] Pokemon Gold & Silver MSU1
Alright, so I found time to mess around with the patch, and here's what I've done:
- I've added locations for all ROM versions in the repo (haven't tested those yet though)
- Address the two bugs (desync and game crash). I have to admit that I did experience some difficulties fixing them, but I managed to find some hacky possibly inelegant mitigations at least lmao
- Testing out SFX accomodation. I decided to use the R/B/Y MSU-1 style and just duck the music since I figured it preserves the flow of the music and saves a bit of work, problem is that it's half-baked rn
Here's not one but two preview patchsets to try, see if there's some more problems

Fixed, my apologies.
Also, for zumi, i treated the second patch with this recent video upload. I have not got a chance to test azalea town poke center glitch yet but i will soon. I played three first patch file too you uploaded. Not sure what i am looking for though as it does not seem to change anything from what i can see.

Re: [Super Game Boy] Pokemon Gold & Silver MSU1
I have them turned off to speed up the gameplay time. It is an option in the game menu. I probably should have those on i guess if i am checking for bugs as they do have sound effects to go with them. I will do that next time

Pokemon G/S MSU1 (2021-03-27)
So I believe I've fixed the SFX problem on SGB, and I thought I was being clever by being lazy and hook into toggle_sfx, but apparently that has problems (delays, weird volume stuff)
Yep, I ended up using the lookup table approach, it works lmao
I've also added the patches for *all* the language versions, so you now may try them relatively easily - please test!

Excellent! I only have 10 more pcm tracks to make, that will be a breeze. I am going to finish the playthrough possible today and tomorrow. With some luck we wont have more bugs, fingers crossed

Awesome! Any plans to continue the Pokemon Gen 1 PCM pack that contains only music from the Switch Let's Go games or the PCM pack with music from Fire Red/Leaf Green? I personally prefer to use the Anime pack with Pokemon Yellow, since that's an adaptation of the Anime while the other versions would sound better with game music.

I have got 7 gym badges now and things are looking good so far. The only glitch that still remains is when you pick up an item in the overworld from the ground the music gets quiet. New preview video will be up soon. I also got PCM set done
