ArcadeTV was working on the magadrive patch but unfortunately he left the scene and the patch stayed in a beta version because it had problems with the save game system.
And I would like that this work done with the audio tracks not be lost, there are 2 packs, one made by him and the other by me. I leave a sample of how it was staying. It's basically the same, only the Snes version has a couple more tracks.

An I have all the tracks for the game
Already don the one for Langrisser 2 megadrive and there is another One created by Arcade TV.
Here is a sample of the megadrive patch.

Nice, I deleted the patch I posted to avoid confusion

there's likely just a couple. i'll sort that out at some point if nobody else does.

Hello I had some time of not passing by here, I have seen that you have tried to review this rom and I thank you for trying.
I have seen the music of the rom follows this order (https://www.zophar.net/music/nintendo-snes-spc/der-langrisser), so I have given myself the task of making a match with the list of that page.
I leave the file with the complete OST for that rom.
There are difference with a few tracks with the Megadrive. 39 on Snes and 32 on Megadrive. Thank you and I hope this file is of some use.
The files are in Wav format. I think that some files needs normalization on the audio.

Re: Der Langrisser english patched
I have a question?
I have the anime style FMV intro for this game.
Is there a way to put it at the start of the game?
What formats and resolutions do romhacks use for MSU1?

Re: Der Langrisser english patched
There's two ways of achieving that. The first way would be out of reach for most people here, in that you could port the original FMV. You'd get full screen video, but you're essentially limited to 15 FPS and also limited colours, as everything has to be tile optimised.
Or you can use ikari's video player. There's a tutorial here. You can achieve near enough to full colour 30 FPS using this method, but the main issue is that you can't get full screen video and the output is limited to a letterboxed format, so full screen 4:3 video can look a little bit squashed, but the result is usually good enough.
The MSU file that's generated contains the FMV and can be used with the hack. Cubear or Conn should be able to insert it at the appropriate point. I've already converted some.

Thank you, I wanted to do an AI enhancement on the video but it looks like my PC is out of date.

Re: Der Langrisser english patched
Given the fact that the resolution of the video frames (before being compiled into the MSU file) are 224 x 144, you wouldn't benefit much from "enhancing" it, as such, but I guess trying to get rid of the blockyness of the original FMV would be your main goal here. I can certainly try and see what happens.

Re: Der Langrisser english patched
I cleaned up the thread and had to delete some posts (sorry for that, but they were obsolete anyways), to have cubear's patch in the first post.
As for the fmv, I am sure it's possible to have e.g. ikari code *somewhere. If it's at boot, it is very easy - if it is somewhere inbetween and splitted as intented for chrono trigger, it will be difficult.
In the end, I think the common interest for this game is not very high so - in my personal opinion - the effort might be higher than the benefit for the community. I'd suggest to have a playable, bug free proven patch first before requesting any fmv decorations

Re: Der Langrisser english patched
On the Saturn version these FMV's play after the title screen, without progressing by pressing start, and when the game is just left to run.
The SNES version has it's own very short animated intro, so I'd say placing it during boot might be fine. I don't know, though. I'm not remotely familiar with the game.

Re: Der Langrisser english patched
not that I've done MSU video before, but if the game is doing a fade-to-black change that's gonna wipe vram anyways, it should be possible to hook there and do a video.
Re: Der Langrisser english patched
Here's the second Saturn intro after being run through a video AI to remove the compression and blocking. See if you can notice a difference.
https://mega.nz/file/wqhkDDQQ#aj8Y_8ZgcesiNAK2Sjr_jLQncQfT_eCkMKflJOnloeA
Here's a comparison video for the first FMV, showing the original and the AI enhanced version. Overall the enhanced version is a lot cleaner, but there's still some artifacting going on.

Looks like the orignal has a lot of atifacts, I guess that's why it couldn't be completely removed by the AI.
Just one correction that intro is for Langrisser 1 remake or Warsong on the USA on sega genesis/MD. The Saturn/PSX disc includes 2 games Langrisser 1 and Langrisser 2 (Der langisser)

On playstarion 1 the intro is placed like this, but at the boot looks fine.
The correct video for Snes would be this. This is the Langrisser 2 Intro (Der Langrisser)
Play this game a long long time ago when I was a kid, only with a translated guide and I still have the original PSX disc.

Re: Der Langrisser english patched
Alrighty. This should be done, so. Here's that FMV, ran through an AI with pretty good results, and converted to MSU FMV. It's about as good as you're going to get it without porting it.

Looks nice on Retroarch, also tested on a SD2Snes Revx the chinese one and firmware 1.11, and seems that no work whit this cart, but the starfox MSu1 with the video works well (I dont Know if the Satarfox one video is a tilebased convertion or another form of video convertion.). I think that only works on the Pro version.
Apart from that, the conversion has been very beautiful.

Hellow, I have reedited this file, this would be the correct one for the track 33.
The cause, the SNES version has 2 tracks combined in this track, the music changes after 55 seconds to a track that is not found in any other version of Langrisser, it is exclusive to SNES. I have found a track on the new Langrisser Mobile that suits that particular scene, in fact it is very similar and from what I see it suits it very well.
This is the correct file and is in sync with the intro scene.
33. Opening 1
Updated file.
https://www.mediafire.com/file/7t735m7qgcpvnib/33.Opening+1.wav/file
This a test for the 2 intros.
Bug:
I have found a sound bug in the SFX, this does not happen with the version without MSU patch.
min 2:56 (some beeps) and min 4:26. The bug also happends on the real SNES, already tested.
Note:
It has been very difficult for me to place the first 2 tracks since I don't know how to program and I was guided by examples from the page and there are options that I do not understand.
My intention was to test the corrected track.
Question:
At minute 6:00 the track is repeated again. How can I make it so that it only plays the track once and then it goes silent? I know it's an error in my deficient code.
Used this code to convert to MSU (Don't blame please )
I'm sorry and I wouldn't want to hinder your work with silly questions.

there aren't any noloop tracks defined in the MSU1 code yet, i haven't added them. i'll look into the sound bug as exampled in your video tomorrow.

The Star Fox video was doing using the same method as this, but the Der Langrisser FMV works just fine on my SD2SNES with that latest firmware, so it must be an issue with that Chinese clone using that official firmware. Try some older firmware revisions. They might be more compatible with it.

Re: Der Langrisser english patched
Hello again, Bug report No.2
I have done some tests going testing the gameplay of the first stage.
After finishing the first phase and giving to the AI control of the game the screen goes black and the game freezes. 1:46 on the video. Same on the real Snes.
Already added the tracks 2,11, 21 witch are requiered for the first stage, and later testing without those tracks. (I love how it use the SPC if the PCM track is not found)

Re: Der Langrisser english patched
fixing the glitched voice sfx might require a hard mute for this game, they seem to break whenever the SPC music isn't running.
this will break the SPC fallback unfortunately.
will look into that freeze shortly. it might be caused by the same issue.

Re: Der Langrisser english patched
updated the first post with a new patch.
fixed the mute while preserving SPC fallback (thank goodness)
This restores the SFX voices for battle.
fixed the softlock on enemy turn. this was because the ram addresses for fade information was used by the original program

Nice, already tested and it is OK.
Only some note for the track 32.Scenario Clear.wav
It needs to play once and then needs to loop after to 00h:00m:05seg
you can see on 15:15 on the video , the entire track loops with the clear escenario sound so many times. From what I have been able to read, you can make a loop from an audio position, unfortunately I have not been able to make it work with my little knowledge of the subject.
Note: I have a strange static sound on the SNES2SD on the 17:24 after the sound goes to mute. but cannot reproduce the issue on the snes9x
Managed to clear the stage 2, seems no problem until now, no freezes unitl now.

Re: Der Langrisser english patched
watching the video, I think the game wants to play a "mute track" that doesn't exist (sd2snes wants to play a track with full volume that isn't present and thus plays garbage, snes9x automatically mutes when the track does not exist).Note: I have a strange static sound on the SNES2SD on the 17:24 after the sound goes to mute. but cannot reproduce the issue on the snes9x
That is I think because cubear nop:ed the error check to fix the other bug... there's 2 possible ways: somehow reuse the error bit but with different adjustments and leave the volume at 0, or to implement a looping mute track. First option is the better one if more such situations but with different tracks exist.

Re: Der Langrisser english patched
oh lol yeah i think i forgot to turn that back on. it should be fine to reenable that, and i'll post up a patch with that check reinstated in like 6 hours (after work)
as far as making PCMs, especially looping ones, i have little interest in doing them lol.
when i have done them in the past i use audacity to chop up the audio + get the number of samples for the loop point, then wav2msu -l [sample number here] to create the loop.
