Gradius III :: Comments
When you say you need a blank track does that mean a file named
g3-msu1-0.pcm that makes no sound? If so can anyone share one they made?

@xjunox Apologies for not being clear. Basically, you need a mute PCM track (just silence) named as "g3-msu1-0.pcm". You will only need this if playing on a SD2SNES Pro (emulators will not have the buzzing sound as writing to msu1 registers is pretty much instantaneous, not so on real hardware). As a reminder, you will not get PCM audio on a regular SD2SNES. Only the SD2SNES Pro version supports SA-1 and MSU-1 together.
UPDATE: Redownload my PCM Set from top (PeV's Arranged Set). I cleaned them up a bit and it also includes the silent track if you immediately cannot find one.
There was a patch update for this a couple of weeks ago (v1.5).

@Relikk Already applied that final 1.5 patch since day one of its release.Relikk wrote:There was a patch update for this a couple of weeks ago (v1.5).

@Relikk No problem. Thanks for keeping and eye out for updated patches too. Otherwise, things will go stale here, lol.
Strange, in this new version 1.5 there is no sound of any track and in Konami logo comes a sound of shooting, the previous 1.4b works perfectly.
@darthvaderx I see where the problem is. If you add a pcm track 30 (for konami logo) it will work. I have to fix the spc fallback code (somehow the value for spc version of Konami jingle does not play and messes up the audio for the rest of the game).
@darthvaderx Ok, it is fixed, phew, something simple. The "g3sa1-spcFallback-msu1-v1.5-fixed.bps" file corrects the bug. Thanks for the heads up on this one. Apply on a clean non-header US Gradius III rom.
@darthvaderx Adding the PCM track 30 or using the fixed 1.5 patch? Not sure if I understood your response. If the latter, then awesome news indeed.
(video moved to the top) <--- Thanks Relikk
I didn't know the first post was updated with a video for the combined patch, but here's a single loop playthrough with it applied, anyway. Arcade PCM's.

Any chance a patch can be released for MSU-1 only? I suck at this game with the original lag already so don't really want the SA-1 patch.
There are two 1.4b patches with different sizes in the patch folder, maybe pev clarifies this... until then I'd suggest to try both

One is an IPS and the other is a BPS. No major differences except for the patchers used and the added security when BPS patching.
But the g3sa1-spcFallback-msu1-v1.5-fixed is the MSU1/SA-1 patch, and the 1.4b should be the original MSU1 only patch.
It's been awhile Conn..long time
so i guess thanks to me Pev updated the patch,... oops and ppl u dont say hi...guys?

@kurrono A much thank you, indeed. Also Relikk and Conn for letting me know about the mis-understanding with the patches. It was a mess earlier.
