Re: Super Mario All-Stars
@ABOhiccups, Is the issue a major one, or is it a minor issue. The reason I ask is because the game does share a lot of the music. I have this game for the Wii and what you described is what plays on the Wii. I think its just the way its been program. I hope this helps you out.
It's just a minor issue with one track that does not match with one Theme from original SNES ROM. Hopefully, it should get fixed very soon.Polargames wrote:@ABOhiccups, Is the issue a major one, or is it a minor issue. The reason I ask is because the game does share a lot of the music. Ok, Sounds good. I just wanted to let you know that it's also in the newer version for the Wii.
@ABOHiccups I already updated track 101 with the one Kurrono supplied to me about a hour ago. The link is already live at the top.
I already tried it. The track plays both Bowser Battle Theme from SMB3 and Underground Level Theme from SMB1 in the same track.pepillopev wrote:@ABOHiccups I already updated track 101 with the one Kurrono supplied to me about a hour ago. The link is already live at the top.
@ABOHiccups Then Kurrono gave me the wrong track. Just out of curiosity, have you used the latest v6 patch?
@Kurrono I guess the track you supplied is the wrong one if ABOHiccups is using the latest v6 patch.

@ABOhiccups, Then its just how the game was made. I think the big N made it share tracks in the game. I brought up the Wii version because it does the same thing. It's music does double duty. And at times, it does like what you have described. As you stated its just a minor issue, could you over look it. I am not trying to make you mad at all, You had the best people that did do there best to fix it. There is not much more one can do.
@ABOhiccups Can you provide a bSnes and/or Geiger save state for both SMB1 and SMB3 to see what is going on.
@Conn Ok, not sure what the big mix up is here but until Kurrono gets this cleared up, I do not know what track needs replacing. Apparently the replaced track 101 did not resolve the issue reported by ABOhiccups. Kurrono provided the track, so not sure maybe he gave me the wrong one?
@Kurrono Can you shed some light on this?

I can: if you convert this new pcm 101 into wav you will hear at 0:30 the smb2 underworld sound. Can you shed some light on this?
My commiseration Pev... and K... *facepalms
@Conn Thanks for clearing this up. I am not a SMB fan, thus, cannot see what track goes where for this game. I will leave Kurrono to fix this up then and update accordingly.
Yes, it should loop somewhere at second 30, if all fails we could use the theme from emnet or jud6ment.
@Conn Ok, I will reference enmet and jud6ment's track 101 and use to fix Kurrono's track. It will take me a bit. Let us see how this goes.

@pepillopev @Conn @Kurrono Here's a link to download Save States that takes you to Underground Level in Super Mario Bros 1 & 3, and Bowser Battle in Super Mario Bros 3. http://www.filedropper.com/smamsu1
I'm going to test everything again now because with the set I have here none of this happens, I will have to download everything again to see what the problem is, OK?
@darthvaderx Ok, I will wait then and see how your test goes. This will free me up to do other things. I appreciate the assistance.
I see that enmet, jud6ment, and kurrono's track 101 are different from each other. So, now I am really at a loss of where to begin (facepalm). Which set is the correct one now, lol. As Mario always says, "Mama Mia".

Never mind, I had older versions of these downloads. Redownloaded enmet and jud6ment tracks and now they are matching.
@Relikk Your track 101 is different to what Kurrono, enmet, and jud6ment have. Your 101 is the box prize jingle. Their's is bowser fight song.

@ABOhiccups Your save states are not compatible with the bsnes I am using (bsnes v107). I ended up re-downloading the PCM sets (including track 101) and found all of them now matching, except for Relikk's set.
Byuu just released Version 0.108 this August and I don't see previous versions listed.pepillopev wrote:@ABOhiccups Your save states are not compatible with the bsnes I am using (bsnes v107). Just download the latest version and you'll be fine.

@ABOHiccups Tried but loading your save states speeds up the game play (with no sound). Loading the game normally is fine though. Sorry, I cannot help.
Results: (I made all downloads by another browser to avoid any problems.)
1) My custom set (Super Mario All-Stars_MSU-1):
No problem, it runs normally.
2) PCM set by Kurrono v4 (replaced track 101):
Trouble with the track, it starts playing battle music and immediately changes to the underground theme.
3) PCM set by Enmet v2:
Everything normal.
4) NES PCM set by Relikk:
Keep playing the 'Pick a Box' instead of the battle theme.
5) PCM set presented by JUD6MENT:
Everything normal too.
In short, the problem is with the tracks and not with the patch and emulators.

Yes, all needed to be done:
Kurrono: in 101 only use the first half minute (bowser battle), delete the undergroud part, and loop the bowser battle
Relikk: replace 101 with bowser battle
That should be it.

Why did the text size change in the thread?
101 -> Bowser (which is the same as what other track number?)
101 -> Bowser (which is the same as what other track number?)
I think it is a unique track, not used elsewhere:

I start getting wondering why such a negligible, small thing starts taking a complete side in a thread.
Track 101 must be bowser battle. That simple. It must not be a box pick up music nor must not be merged with a underground music.
